In this work I have been photographing my daughter with a sense of parental observer and interested bystander. As parent, I find it amazing how the light reveals in her a sense of generations and wisdom that confounds my core as I know her as my kid. As a bystander, I find myself enjoying the ambiguity of what she may be thinking or feeling at the moment I shoot, and see the power in her genuine expression. The images I made explore a sense of narrative that leaves open the point at which you encounter the scene a story. They begin to connect days to weeks, and fold over into what has become a few years of my daughter growing up so quickly. This is why I have titled the series ‘Folded Open’.
